ABOUT Akai did real nice analog synths those days, with filter FM by VCO, Rack and Keyboard verisons. dual mode (well if not used somewhat thin sounding)..

DETAILS the ax73 / vx90 are quite interesting ,too because it has a special connector to use the s900 and s950 samplers and x7000 and s612 as another oszillator (samples!!) and filter it with the analogue filters of the VX/AX! the ax60 has also those sample input plug.. the ax80 / 90 doesnt. the ax90 was never released. so if you read about it: think ax80 ;) more details
DETAILS gute filter FM, im dual mode auch fett (dann 3 stimmig), hat anschluss für damalige akai sampler und kann damit auch akai samples filtern..

THE MANUFACTURER
Kaum einer kenn nicht die berühmte S-Serie Sampler des chinesischen Herstellers mit weissem Rack-Gehäuse, sie waren der Verkaufsschlager der 80er und in wirklich jedem Studio zu finden, wirklich innovativ waren sie aber eher mit der MPC und einigen Synthesizern (AX und VX Serie und speziell dem VX600), jedoch hatten sie beim Verkauf der Synthesizer nicht so viel Erfolg. Gegründed von Masukichi Akai.
